Course prerequisites

  • The catalog prerequisites are listed as INEL 4307 (datacomm), ICOM5007 (operating systems) or permission of instructor.  In general, I give permission whenever you have some comparable background, even not very documentable, such as doing your own installation or administration of your PC, or a good math background, or work experience, or good grades.  The situations I am trying to avoid are those in which you would likely drop the course and lose time and tuition or be better off taking it the next year.  If you need this permission, please send an email to noack@ece.uprm.edu

Laboratory Information

  • This is not strictly a laboratory course.  For work requiring root access or kernel modification the network laboratory is available.  Accounts in the Linux laboratory can be established for those who don’t already have them; to do so, you should apply to the department’s sysadmins in S-105.
