Events for 2015:
August
September
Soldering workshop with the CAS association
Day:
September 2
Place:
S-207
Hour:
7:00PM
This workshop is made for our members and not members, so they can learn how to solder properly, for further projects and activities that they might be having with the association or even with investigative projects with professors over the university.
Control Challenge Electrical
Day:
September 9
Place:
S-211
Hour:
6:00PM
This activity is to teach students newly arrived to the society what are control systems, what are they used for in the workfield and why are they important. This challenge consists in using their imagination to design and develop a type of control system. Using daily used materials such as pencils, rubber bands, cord, paper and they are limited.
October
Arduino Workshop
Day:
October 7
Place:
S-211
Hour:
6:00PM
The society will be working hand in hand with professional Arduino developers, they will be giving a basic training divided in two sessions for extensive training in Arduino projects.
Matlab workshop
Day:
October 8
Place:
S-210
Hour:
6:30PM
MATLAB is the high-level language and interactive environment used by millions of engineers and scientists worldwide. It lets you explore and visualize ideas and collaborate across disciplines including signal and image processing, communications, control systems, and computational finance.
Vex Workshop
Day:
October 14
Place:
S-305
Hour:
7:00PM
The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These are just a few of the many fields students can explore by creating with VEX Robotics technology. Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups.
November
PLC Workshops
Day:
To be determined
Place:
To be determined
Hour:
To be determined
A PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions based upon a custom program to control the state of output devices. Almost any production line, machine function, or process can be greatly enhanced using this type of control system.
Field Trip
Day:
To be determined
Place:
To be determined
Hour:
To be determined
As society we want to organize a field trip to the brewery of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. This is with the intention of showing our members the applications of control systems in the industries and fabrics. What are they used for how they are designed and how are they programmed, what tools are used.
Final project with Arduino
Day:
To be determined
Place:
To be determined
Hour:
To be determined
This project is based on robot making and design of control systems from our students. This will be a series of workshops that will later develop to the making of a project, a small running car using the previous knowledge of Arduino workshop and Raspberry Pi workshop, and previous workshops. This will develop in a competition this will help the students use their creativity and new knowledge in control systems.
