Short Biography:

I was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico but raised in the town of Arecibo, where the world's largest single-dish radio telescope is located, The Arecibo Observatory. I am currently majoring in electrical engineering in the University of Puerto Rico- Mayaguez Campus. My interests are radio, journalism and avionics. I also have a passion for theater and dancing. In the past I have conducted different research related to climatic data analysis and hyperspectral imaging. I have a co-op experience in System Engineering with an Avionics company, Rockwell Collins. During my co-op I worked for the 787 Boeing Displays Applications program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I have won National Bronze medals for Prepared and Extemporaneous Public Speaking for the National FFA organization, both events held in Louisville, Kentucky. I also have won second place for the HENAAC College Bowl participating in the US Navy team. I am a person interested in the area of media communications, good at developing visual aids and speaking in front of people. I am married to a fellow Electrical Engineering graduate, an UPRM Alumni and best friend. I enjoy writing about life events and turning them into stories. I also enjoy photography and being around people. I am part of many student associations, such as FemProf, The Society of Electrical Engineers at Puerto Rico and I once played Soccer for the Feminine University Varsity team. My future plans are not so clear at the moment and I am living one day at the time, lesson hard learned through these years in college. I do look forward on pursuing a graduate degree in an area I would feel passionate about. It may be on Avionics Systems or Remote Sensing as well that it could be on a Communications area such as journalism. Favorite quote: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" by my favorite scientist Albert Einstein.

FemProf is a demonstration project of CAHSI, the Computing Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutions (http://cahsi.fiu.edu/main.html). It is supported through the Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) program of the National Science Foundation (Grants # CNS 0739249 and CNS 0739213).
