Dossier Dr. Orama received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the
Polytechnic University
of Puerto Rico in 1992. During his senior year he worked as inspector of electrical
distribution systems for the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. In January 1993 he
started graduate studies at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Instutite
where he received his
Master of Engineering Degree in 1994. In August of 1994 he became a GEM Fellow
to continue doctoral studies
at Rensselaer. He received his Doctoral Degree in October of 1997 after presenting his Thesis titled
"Numerical Modeling of High Voltage Circuit Breaker Arcs And Their Interaction With The Power System"
. Dr. Orama joined the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico in January, 1998. He does research in the
areas of electrical discharges, electrical transients and teaches
general engineering and electric power engineering courses. He also, practices as a Professional Engineer in Puerto Rico.
