3. Requirements:

All students are expected to:

· Attend to all lectures. Attendance is compulsory.

· Complete all assigned readings.

· Complete and turn-in all homework in time.

4. Teaching Strategy:

The course will consist mainly of lectures. Students will be assigned problems as homework to be individually solved and turned in to the professor for grading. Major emphasis will be made on the study of current research topics. Handouts will be provided for selected topics.

5. Grading and Grade Scale

Evaluation will be based on one midterm exam, a set of quizzes, and a set of homework assignments weighted as indicated below:

Final grades will be assigned according to the following scale:

0-59 F

60-69 D

70-79 C

80-89 B

90-100 A

8. Late Homework Policy

Homework is due one week after delivery, at the beginning of the class period (unless otherwise stated). Late homework will be applied following penalties:

· 10% the next day after the due date.

· 25% the second day.

· 50% the third day.

· 100% after the third day.

9. Student Assistance

Attendance is required for tutorials if scheduled.

10. General Rules

• Attendance will be monitored in each class.
• Make-up for exams will be furnished only upon “valid excuse”. Your professor reserves the right to determine what is a “valid excuse”.
• Under no circumstance will homework be accepted after the 3^rd day late.
• No radios, tape recorders, or any other form of audio or video equipment will be permitted in the classroom at any time.
• Cellular phones and pagers should be in quiet mode in the classroom and OFF during exams. No answering of calls will be allowed in the classroom.
• Dishonesty of any kind will be reported to the pertinent authorities for disciplinary sanctions.

· Smoking is not permitted in any area other than those areas designated for smoking.
