The Kernel book includes much more on booting and the various distributions. · Microsoft XP Pro – Resource Kit documentation – the entire book is also on a CD · Safari permits (for a price) downloading chapters of O’Reilly and numerous other books – also useful for making excerpts and making presentations. The content of this course will be significantly different from previous years. Reasons: · You may need to administer both Linux and the various varieties of Windows · The security environment is much more hostile · Recent distributions of Linux are easier to install and update – a basic installation of Ubuntu or Suse is an hour’s work and usually works the first time · My present laptop will now project Linux – the Viejo wouldn’t. Expect an updated prontuario to appear in a week or so. |
