Project: Speeding Up Discrete Event Simulation Using GPGPUs

    • The goal of this project was to determine if new discoveries in the field of communications could be done faster by reducing the execution time of discrete event simulations. These simulations rely heavily on pseudo-random number generators.

    • Improved random number generation by up to 135% in some cases, by using GPGPUs and parallel programming. Developed the core in C language in conjunction with the CUDA and cuRAND libraries.
