The Gelato Federation is a
worldwide consortium of research organizations who come together as open-source
suppliers and users of Itanium Linux technology and solutions. Gelato offers
members the opportunity to take a leading role in the worldwide development and
promulgation of Linux on Itanium, which will define the next generation of
high-performance computing.
UPRM brings to Gelato
expertise in the areas of grid software and tools, scalability work, and porting
application libraries. Gelato related activities at UPRM will be led by the PDC
Group (Parallel
and Distributed Computing Laboratory). The PDC Group performs research in
the design, implementation, and efficiency measurements of parallel algorithms.
It also addresses research issues related to parallel and distributed computing
systems with an emphasis in high performance cluster computing and Grid
computing.
