Tech. Carnival

Embedded System's Research Team, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, Outreach Program for High School Students

About Tech. Carnival

"...We’ve got to make sure that young people like you are going to keep on having what you need to discover and experiment and to innovate."

Barack Obama
Tech. Carnival is an outreach program for high school students aimed to promote STEM fields through project-based activities centered in the implementation of basic electronics and computing concepts to build a serie of game modules.
Not only do these games provide the students basic understanding of programming on Arduino™ Microcontroller Boards and electronic circuits design, but also problem-solving techniques. The materials needed for the development of these game prototypes are easy to acquire.

Some of our objectives as Tech. Carnival...

The development of an outreach program to promote and encourage in Puerto Rico's public high schools the study of STEM fields in the University of Puerto Rico.

Create a program that focuses on students who are currently attending public high schools, taking into consideration different levels of knowledge and understanding.

Design and develop game prototypes which help provide high school students the motivation and resources to continue their interests in STEM areas.

Tech. Carnival aims to develop an adaptable, replicable, and teachable program that can be implemented in any high school. A step-by-step manual for students and a Teacher’s guide to help students work on their own.
