The purpose of this tutorial is to provide information that will complement Electrical Engineering courses, providing additional information related to practical issues not covered in the classroom. Here we present information on various aspects of electrical utility business in Puerto Rico and the US including historical elements, load information, financial and mechanical data.

 

Historical Elements
In this section we present a summary of the most remarkable facts in the development on the power industry's history and development. As part of it we include a brief history of Puerto Rico's Electric Power Authority's history.
Financial Data
Here we provide electrical power systems financial data regarding electrical power systems capital investments, business value, operation, and other expenses such as fuel, insurance, operatin, and maintenance.
Mechanical Data
In this section we provide mechanical data regarding components used in the generation and distribution of energy. Elements such as autotransformers, breakers, conductors, transmission lines, and others are viewed in detail.
Load Information
Included here is load related data including specific examples with nominal capacity and actual consumption, ranking, and comparisons of individual loads. Among the examples are included museums, fast food services, hospitals, apartments, etc.
