The AMEX Corporate Card Reconciliation

The reconciliation process of researcher accounts is a manual, tedious process for both the accountants and researchers. Currently, researchers that have an AMEX card issued by the Research & Development Center, must submit a purchase report every month with all their transactions and the accountants must audit each transaction as well as compare all of the transactions with the purchase report received from AMEX. This process is susceptible to human error causing unnecessary spending from the university and researchers. The AMEX Corporate Card Reconciliation system aims to improve the reconciliation process for both accountants and researchers by delivering a web application that allows researchers to input and manage all of their transactions per cycle as well as providing relevant information of each account the researchers have. The system also aims to improve the auditing process for the accountant and it will also automize the reconciliation process reducing human error.

The IRB has officially presented a project proposal where this problem is effectively mitigated in which our job is to digitalize the process of form submission and reviewal, addressing every concern and presenting a solution to storage space, archive finances and better interactions between researchers and the IRB office. This solution will efficiently address the overall work and steps for a succesfully completed form. TropiBus

Currently, residents of the municipality of Mayaguez lack information regarding functionalities and logistics of the Integrated Municipal Transportation (TIM) system. TropiBus looks to change the notion of how people view the shared passenger transportation system by providing information to the user about the different functionalities and logistics of TIM. It will be developed by our team of computers engineers, StoneBreaker, and with the collaboration of the Department of Economic Development and Planning of Mayaguez. This computerized system will be composed of three essential applications: two Android applications, one for TIM customers and one for the buses and an administrator web application. The TIM customer Android application will be for the users and potential users of TIM that have an Android smartphone with data access in their possession which will give them information over all the basic services that are part of TIM. Through a GUI, the app will show the location of the trolleys, routes and bus stops. The bus Android application will transmit the location of the bus. Lastly, the administrator web application will give special privileges to a designated user so that he or she can update information about the trolleys and bus stops within the TropiBus system.
